“The key to quality is mindfulness” and the effects of lack of mindful attention
can be seen in the way we speak.
Rameez Raja was on television during the recently concluded India Pakistan
one day series. In his expert comments during a lunch break he said in all
seriousness to a comment by his co-commentator. “Yes, India should go for
the juggernaut” pointing to his throat! The co-commentator tried to point out
the error in a graceful way and said “you mean they should go for the kill”.“Yes”, Rameez reiterated “They must go for the juggernaut” and pointed more
clearly to his own jugular vein again!
The most astonishing gaffe I have come across is in a book written by an own
eminent scholar of the shastras and of traditional sculpture, “I am penning
down all that I have learnt for posterior reference”!!
I wonder if these qualify to be “Freudian slips”.
