The life science company which we work with has established a measure –
number of lives saved. I find this an inspiration and I see no reason why every
employee of the organization shouldn’t find this inspiring. The organization is
involved in an exercise to get everyone on board and committed to the idea. However, I am quite sure the driver of the company’s car engaged for my
travel to and from the plant, is not concerned!
Observing the way he drives - the honks, the sharp turns, the near misses - I
am compelled to think, the company he works for, saves lives and he is trying
the opposite?
Living the values of a company is not easy. Ensuring that those who interface
with the outside world don’t communicate the wrong message while huge
efforts are put into operational excellence is a matter of detail, but in its
absence can affect the way the company is perceived.
