"The Director of this company is like dynamite", my colleague Vishnu told me as we entered one of the company's units to carry out VSM. This was my first hand experience on the shop floor. I was quite excited to conduct VSM. As I started tracking the product, the operators there were more than pleased to
please me and started working faster than usual. they all got conscious and felt as if
their work was being inspected by a quality checking inspector.
The current state was getting simulated. So i approached the Production in-charge and told him the problem. The very next day, as i was making notes, the Director of the company approached me and asked me to stay right beside him as he folks. He called his entire staff and very convincingly explained to them that VSM was being conducted only to track the product flow and not to track their
performance.
His communication paid off and eased out my problem. From the very next moment operators carried on their work as usual. I stood there appreciating that good communication could create.
Every company needs a Dynamite Director like him.
