The Universe of Role Alignment
Role Alignment is a function of Personal Alignment and the Task cum Role design within the organization.

It is the vector that engages with the interplay of Human energy and the task / behavioral context. It is crucial that organizational systems and processes to mobilize latent value and energy is integrated within Role definition.

We at Flame TAO believe that for the individual to energize the Role, it requires explicating the organization model, the business model, the revenue model and throughput model. Flame TAO enables the client to link and integrate the abovementioned models into Role Design and Role Definitions. It facilitates the “defining” of competencies and role effectiveness dimensions. In this process it identifies areas of value creation and sources of waster in the organization. 
 
Roles also become the building blocks for designing “institutional practices” to establish a culture that will foster continuous improvement of all business processes. Roles also define how Teaming and other Cross Functional processes get optimized with the defining and institutionalizing of Job and Link Responsibilities.

In order to find the creative response in diverse situations, the manager must actually have a choice within herself/ himself of a wide variety of roles. For example, in designer, visionary, hunter, craftsperson, coach, captain, controller…

Normally, most managers and leaders find it difficult to respond with creative variety in their role behaviour - it is normal to have a fairly restricted (tried, tested and practised) set of routine responses to typical situations and challenges in the organizational context. S/he needs to be able to experiment and play with some of these alternate role and response patterns to develop this diversity and richness in approach.

We believe that Role Alignment will allow managers will discover new sources within themselves, and new connections with the others and the environment. In this discovery lie the seeds of experiencing themselves in new roles and response patterns, and an unfreezing of their limited role repertoire. Leadership and team-building being two sides of same coin: having this variety internally means reduced resistance to role stances from others.

Designing the Personal Score Card (PSC)
One of the key challenges for the top management is to translate the long-term organizational and collective goals and targets into a “personal scorecard” for every individual within the organization, clearly depicting and explicating the links between the goals at the individual level with organizational goals.

The design for evolving the Personal Score Cards requires alignment at the throughput and goal level, a process that requires sustained dialogue, negotiations, and flexibility. The Personal Score Card becomes the building block for enabling the person to understand “Goals”, “Deliverables”, “Roles”, “Customers” and Competencies required thereof.

Interventions on Throughput Alignment
Throughput Alignment is a systemic process that identifies and eliminates all waste, visible and invisible across the key value stream/s of the organization. The process examines critical links between functions and departments within the organization, and allows the internal or external customer-supplier interface to negotiate the deliverables.

As opposed to conventional wisdom of implementing Throughput Alignment downwards, Flame TAO deploys and facilitates the alignment process at the value stream level. It uses dialogue forums, kaizen, lean tools, and SEDAC amongst other methodologies to bring in alignment at the visible throughput level.

The team integrates role alignment, personal scorecards, team oriented problem solving, and team working to examine and minimized waste in the invisible / human processes.

Interventions on Goal Alignment
The Goal Alignment process gets initiated with the mapping of the value potential of the organization. The Flame TAO team enables the client organization to identify the tangible & intangible factors that affect organization effectiveness.

The consultant facilitates the translation of long-term strategy to goal setting and goal deployment. In facilitating such a dialogue for goal setting and goal negotiation, the Tao team uses systems modeling, benchmarking, and assessment of best practices. The team then designs and implements these practices, by evoking employees and other stakeholders to enhance their role taking, and improving performance.

Flame TAO also deploys TAO Power tools (a repertoire of software) to scale up and cascade the process of Goal Alignment across the organization. Intervention on Team Effectiveness
Within the continuum that exists between Role Alignment and Organizational Alignment, lies the intervention on Team Alignment & building Team Effectiveness. FLAME TAO carries a significant level of expertise and experience on creating and sustaining synergistic teams.
