It is always heart warming to hear incidents where law enforcement officers are honest and polite. Recently my friend Ashok Malhotra was caught by a traffic policeman as he was talking on his cell phone at a traffic junction waiting for the lights to change. Ashok got out of the car and said “Sorry it was an inadvertent act on my part”. The cop immediately said “It is good that you are sorry but sir can I throw away my rule book because you are sorry?”

He then proceeded to write a fine and returned the exact change for a five hundred rupee note with a nice smile and a polite thank you!
